The Department of Medicine in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine is home to a large number of clinical and non-clinical faculty. We train over half the specialists that practice in Ontario and almost one-third of Canada's specialists. We are also a major training site for future academics.
The approval pathways for appointments and the documents a candidate must submit vary greatly depending on the policy under which the appointment falls, as well as the category and rank of the appointment. The Step-by-Step Guide to Applying for an Academic Appointment includes a series of questions that, when answered, will assist in determining the appropriate category for an individual interested in applying for an academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine.
The Department of Medicine has an enormous societal responsibility to ensure that we recruit and support strong clinicians, teachers, educators, quality improvers and researchers who will shape the next generation of internal medicine specialists. Therefore, the Department of Medicine has set its own specific criteria and requirements for different types of academic appointments.
