As one of the largest medical schools in North America, we train upwards of 600 postgraduates across 20 sub-specialty divisions each year. One third of Canada’s, and one half of Ontario’s, internal medicine specialists are trained at the University of Toronto. The breadth and variety of learning experiences—from the highly specialized tertiary care in the intensive care units to healthcare facilities and clinics that have deep, long-standing roots in their surrounding communities—allow graduates of the department great versatility in addressing challenges facing society’s health and welfare.
